DURHAM, N.C. – Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina (Blue Cross NC) today launched a new “My Pregnancy” app that offers timely and fun information through every stage of pregnancy. Unlike other apps of its kind, the “My Pregnancy” app has a feature to identify potential pregnancy risks and connect members to OB nurses for assistance and support. The app is free and available to most commercial members.
“Tools like this are a great example of how Blue Cross NC is offering our customers more value for their health care dollar,” said Dr. Rahul Rajkumar, Senior Vice President and Chief Medical Officer at Blue Cross NC. “We’re providing women with pregnancy information and resources in a simple, user-friendly way. In the palm of their hand, expecting moms can get real-time information on their pregnancy, identify potential risks, connect with a nurse, and learn about maternity benefits such as lactation counseling.”
Blue Cross NC’s pregnancy app is the only one on the market that contains scored prenatal and postpartum risk surveys that are seamlessly fed to Blue Cross NC’s OB Case Management team for extra support. This allows the OB team to identify risks earlier, and provide extra support and guidance.
The app also has specific Blue Cross NC resource information such as breastfeeding support and how to enroll you newborn in an insurance plan.
Customers can download the app for free through the Apple iTunes App Store and the Google Play Store. Use “My Pregnancy Blue Cross NC” to search for the app.
The “My Pregnancy” app helps promote healthy pregnancies though a number of resources, including:

“My Pregnancy” is currently available at no cost to all commercial Blue Cross NC members, with the exception of members with State Health Plan, Federal Employee Program and Medicare plans, as well as plans that do not include medical coverage.
